DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – When it's the last chance to run in your hometown in front of family and friends, Saturday's Asics Classic was about showing up and showing out for Bethune-Cookman.
Making their final local appearances,
Daniel Kiptoo led three Wildcat men top 10 finishers while DeJa Davis paced the Lady Wildcats with a 16
th place at nearby Embry-Riddle.
Kiptoo, who won the 2015 championship, finished second overall and was the men's top local finisher as he clocked an 8K time of 26.22.18 on a course considered one of the most challenging in Florida. Enoch Nadler of Team Florida Track Club won with a 26.22.18
Davis posted a 20:30.89 in the women's 5K event.
Right behind Kiptoo, Carlin Berryhill and Embry-Riddle's Ryan Szklany battled for third, with Szklany edging Berryhill out at the finish line in 26:26.41.
Xavior Walton, who was having reunions with Titusville HS teammates and the current team in addition to his B-CU following, rounded out the top 10 finishes by coming in 27:06.85.

Donald Cooper. "It's exciting to have friends come out and enjoy seeing us run. It's also nice to head back to campus with no long bus ride."
Kiptoo continued a strong season with his second Top 10 in as many weeks.
"It's expected," Cooper said. "It was good to see Daniel be aggressive and not sit back."
Davis also wanted to be aggressive in her final local meet.
"The last half mile, I just gave it everything I had," Davis said.

Host Embry-Riddle had four runners in the top 10 as the Eagles took the men's team title. B-CU was fifth in the 13-team field and second among the four Volusia County schools. The women were seventh overall in their 13-team race and also were the second-best local team. Seton Hall took the team title.
