DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --
Soufiyane Diakite posted a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double as Bethune-Cookman downed Delaware State 69-49 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Mark Gordon added 18 points, and
Malik Maitland registered nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists as the Wildcats (7-11 overall, 2-2 MEAC) Â held the Hornets (3-15,0-5) to 25.7 shooting from the field as they pulled away from a 30-24 halftime lead.
Diakite was 6-7 from the field in the second half for BCU, which turned a 46-38 lead into a 60-40 advantage on Gordon's dunk with 6:22 left. BCU led by as many as 25 down the stretch.
Cletrell Pope had a game-high 11 boards and was two points shy of a double-double for BCU.
Shawntrez Davis added nine points.
Kevin Larkin led Delaware State with 16.
BCU hosts Maryland-Eastern Shore Monday.
