@BCUWBB Falls Despite Brown's 22 Points And 19 Boards

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Chasimmie Brown posted career highs of 22 points and 19 rebounds in Bethune-Cookman's 64-52 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference setback to Maryland-Eastern Shore Monday afternoon.

The visiting Hawks (9-10 overall, 5-1 MEAC) got 23 points from Ciani Byrom as they handed the Lady Wildcats (9-8,2-3) their first home loss in seven games this season.

Trailing 33-23 at halftime, BCU closed to 42-39 on an Amani Ball three-pointer with 1:54 remaining in the third quarter.  The Hawks closed the period on a 5-2 run and built a 14-point lead midway through the fourth.

Brown, a senior, had eight first-quarter points and gave BCU a 12-11 lead before the Hawks used a 7-0 run to take an 18-12 lead after one period.

Ball, a sophomore, also registered career highs of nine points and seven rebounds. Leading scorer Angel Golden was contained to eight points on 3-10 shooting.

BCU travels to Baltimore for games at Morgan State Saturday and Coppin State Monday.
