Scott's Great As @BCUWBB Outlasts Morgan State 73-69 In OT

BALTIMORE -- Amaya Scott scored a career-high 23 points as Bethune-Cookman posted a 73-69 overtime Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game  over Morgan State Saturday afternoon.

The sophomore from Sunrise finished a traditional three-point play with 1:22 remaining that put the Lady Wildcats (10-8,3-3) ahead 71-69. Tania White added two free throws with 14 seconds left to put the game out of reach.

Chasimmie Brown double-doubled with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Angel Golden scored 18 points as BCU sank 30 of 35 free throws. Golden was 11-12 from the line, while Scott was 9-10 in addition to snagging nine rebounds.

Morgan State (5-16,3-4) sent the game into overtime on Ashia McCalla's three-pointer with eight seconds left that made it 63-63 and managed a pair of three-point leads in the extra period.

BCU led 52-42 with 1:42 remaining in the third quarter on a Scott traditional three-point play, but Morgan State cut the deficit to one on three occasions in the fourth.

After the game, the team drove to Mount St. Mary's University where Head Coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis had her playing jersey retired by her alma mater.

BCU faces Coppin State Monday at 5:30 p.m.

NOTES: BCU's 30 FTs were the most in a game since the Lady Wildcats sank 32 against MD-ES on 1/25/14. Scott, Brown and Golden were a combined 24-27 ... BCU has won its last four OT games, including two at Morgan State ... This is the the first time Brown has double-doubled in consecutive games ... BCU's 11-0 run in the second quarter saw the Lady Wildcats score nine of those points from the line ...
