@BCUhoops Posts 25-Point Road Win In San Antonio

Redd's 17 Paces Wildcats' 83-58 Win Over Incarnate Word

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. – Leon Redd scored a career-high 17 points while Cletrell Pope double-doubled with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Bethune-Cookman downed host Incarnate Word 83-58 in the MTE Classic Friday afternoon.

Wali Parks added 10 points as the Wildcats (3-2) posted their largest non-conference road margin of victory since joining Division I in 1980. The previous high was 24 in a 97-73 win over UCF on Feb. 24, 1988.

"I was really proud of our guys' relentless approach tonight," said BCU Head Coach Ryan Ridder. "It started with the seniors and everyone played a major role in giving us a great win."

Leading 30-27 at halftime, the Wildcats went on an 11-2 run to open up the second half behind a pair of three-pointers and didn't look back. Bethune-Cookman made 20 of their 30 shot attempts in the second half, including six three-pointers.

The Wildcats finished with a season-best 10 three-pointers and were 55.6 percent (10-18) from three-point range, also a season best.

Redd was 3-4 from behind the arc and 6-9 overall. Pope was 5-7 from the field as he finished with his third double-double of the young season.

Dwight Murray led Incarnate Word (1-4) with 15 points.

BCU faces Eastern Illinois Saturday at 12 p.m. CST (1 p.m. EST).
