@BCUWBB Game Day: Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Bethune-Cookman looks for its first 4-0 start since 1992 Tuesday when the Lady Wildcats meet Charleston Southern at 5 p.m. in the Buc Dome.

The Lady Wildcats are off to their second 3-0 start in three years after Saturday's 75-57 victory over Georgia Southern. The program has had only four 3-0 starts since 1985.

BCU will be back home Sunday for a 2 p.m. against Troy, a WNIT team last year.

LAST LOOK: Daniella Hatcher had 18 points on 7-13 shooting, Amaya Scott 14 and freshman Tatum Hayes beat an Eagle team that won last year's meeting by one point.  The Lady Wildcats held the Eagles to 31.7 percent shooting and had a 40-36 rebounding advantage as they closed the game with a 17-4 run.

"Our girls played with a lot of toughness on the defensive end and especially in the second half," said Head Coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis. Our defense allowed us to play up temp and score in transition."

STATS AND STUFF: Hatcher has been in double figures all three games and has led the team in scoring twice; She leads the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in field goal percentage with a clip of 56.7 percent … Ciarra Thompson's fifth in the MEAC in rebounding (8.0) while freshman Tatum Haynes is 42nd in the nation in three-pointers per game (3.0).

WATCHES: Blair-Lewis is four wins away from her 300th career coaching victory … Ashanti Hunt needs 196 points to reach the 1,000 career mark.

ABOUT CSU:  Two of the three Bucs (0-3) losses have come to ACC teams – Florida State and North Carolina. The other one? South Carolina State from the MEAC … CSU leads the series 5-1 … Carmella Walker and Sharita Godfrey are each averaging 12.7 points per game.
