DELAND, Fla. – Career coaching victory #301 was just as sweet as #300 for
Vanessa Blair-Lewis and it had nothing to do with her being from Maryland, which has a 301 area code.
Really.... Oh, who are we kidding?
One day after giving Blair-Lewis her 300
th coaching victory, Bethune-Cookman delivered an instant classic almost as memorable as the Lady Wildcats downed Stetson 59-55 in the 32
nd Hatter Classic in the Edmunds Center.
Ashanti Hunt gave the Lady Wildcats (8-3) the lead on a three-point play with 13.5 seconds remaining, drew a charge on the defensive end and then iced the game with two free throws with six seconds left to help BCU defeat the Hatters (6-6) for the first time since 2009.
Stetson led 52-44 with 6:33 remaining and 55-49 with 2:44 left before the Lady Wildcats closed the game with a 10-0 run.

Ciara Thompson, who doubled-doubled with a season-high 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Daniella Hatcher and
Ashlie Howell added eight apiece.
