DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University men's basketball begins its longest home stretch of the season when North Carolina Central visits Historic Moore Gym on Saturday, Feb. 2, and North Carolina A&T comes to town on Monday, Feb. 4. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m Saturday and 7:30 Monday, and will be aired on the CatEye Network (click here to subscribe).

1 BCU begins a season-long four-game homestand starting with NCCU on Saturday at 4 p.m.

2 Thanks to a perfect 5-5 effort at Coppin State, in MEAC action, Shawntrez Davis leads the conference at a 64.3% success rate. Cletrell Pope ranks sixth and Soufiyane Diakite is seventh in MEAC field goal % (56.6 and 56.1, respectively)

3 Cletrell Pope paces the MEAC and leads the nation with an average of 4.52 offensive rebounds. He is tsecond nationally with his 12.3 rebounding average, and fourth with 258 total boards. The redshirt-junior's 13 double-doubles ranks fifth in the NCAA, and his 7.76 defensive rebound average is good for 14th. Pope is second in the MEAC in total blocks (27) and third in average (1.29)

4 Pope's 22 rebs at MSU on Jan. 26 tied him for 20th in BCU single-game records, and the second highest in D1 history. He is in striking distance of a top-10 single-season mark, needing a total of 311 to enter the fold, and 318 to set a D1 record

5 The 'Cats lead the MEAC in defensive rebounding average (28.14), offensive boards (13.43), rebounding average (41.57), FG defense (40.8%), and 3pt defense (30.3%). BCU is second in rebound margin (+3.3)

A strong comeback attempt ran out of time as Bethune-Cookman dropped a 95-91 decision to Coppin State at the CSU Physical Education Center Monday. Malik Maitland netted 20 points, Shawntrez Davis scored a season-best 19 on five three-pointers, and Cletrell Pope registered his 13thdouble-double in the setback.

Last Time vs. NCCU 1/5/19

Cletrell Pope had another monster game with 15 points and a season-high 20 rebounds, but Bethune-Cookman was bested by host North Carolina Central, 68-59, at McDougald-McLendon Arena Saturday afternoon. In the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both programs, NCCU (6-9, 1-0) rode a 14-23 
(60.9%) showing in the second half to pull away from a three-point halftime lead.

vs. NCAT 2/26/18

Shawntrez Davis posted his 13th double-double of the season and Brandon Tabb led all scorers with 25 points, but Bethune-Cookman dropped a tough 86-80 decision to North Carolina A&T State at Historic Moore Gymnasium.
