In last year's Disney Diamond 9 Citrus Blossom Invite, Bethune-Cookman posted a record of 3-2, winning the final three games of the weekend.

The Wildcats fell by a 6-5 decision to LIU Brooklyn in eight innings to start the invitational, followed by a 9-7 setback to Kennesaw State. However, the final two days of the competition saw the Maroon and Gold score 34 runs across three games, including a 15-5 decision against cross-county opponent Stetson. BCU also recorded a 10-5 victory over Quinnipiac, as well as a final day 9-5 win over Northern Iowa.

Ironically, it was all three pitchers from last weekend's First Pitch Classic – Alexis Bermudez, Victoria Guzman and Destiny Enriquez, that collected the three wins in the pitcher's circle, respectfully.

During last weekend's First Pitch Classic hosted by FAU, Bethune-Cookman was paced offensively by senior outfielder Cheyenne Smith. The Lake Elsinore, California native batted .375 through the First Pitch Classic, picking up six hits, two runs and a RBI. In the win over the Virginia Cavaliers, Smith went 2-for-4 at the dish with a run driven in, adding a perfect fielding percentage, defensively. Overall from her outfield position, Smith picked up four putouts, an assist and zero (0) errors for a perfect fielding percentage across all five games.

Also playing well for the Maroon and Gold were infield/utility rookie Kaira Cabato, as well as junior pitcher Destiny Enriquez. The two were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie and Pitcher of the Week, respectfully, announced Monday afternoon by the league office in Norfolk, Virginia.

Kaira Cabato, an infield/utility freshman from Bremerton, Washington, played in her first collegiate games over the weekend in the First Pitch Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Florida. She averaged .200 at the plate in four games for the Wildcats, picking up hits against ACC opponent Virginia and St. John's (N.Y.), respectively. She also pounded out a pair of doubles, while stealing three bases. Defensively, the Olympic High alum registered four putouts and three assists from both the first base and third base positions on the field.

Destiny Enriquez, a junior pitcher from Norwalk, California, missed the entire fall season, but came back in true fashion from the 2018 campaign. In her first pouting of the year, she collected a win in her first outing of the year in relief effort against ACC opponent Virginia. Against the Cavaliers, Enriquez allowed three unearned runs on four hits, but grabbed the win in extra innings with 3.2 innings pitched and registering a career-high six strikeouts. She also saw relief effort against No. 6 Georgia the following day.
