A NICE LITTLE DAY TRIP NORTH OF HERE - Bethune-Cookman University men's basketball ventures to Orangeburg, S.C., and Savannah, Ga., for two important Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games over the weekend. BCU plays at South Carolina State on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m., and squares off against Savannah State on Monday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. Both games are set to air over the WELE 1380 The Cat airwaves and online at www.1380thecat.com with Nolan Alexander on the call.

1 BCU begins three consecutive road games with its first trip to Orangeburg and Savannah since '17

2 The Wildcats are coming off a three-win homestand and occupies 6th place in the MEAC standings, according to the league website. If the 2019 tournament began today, BCU would play Delaware State in the opening round

3 Cletrell Pope paces the MEAC and leads the nation with an average of 4.60 offensive rebounds. He is second nationally with his 12.4 rebounding average, and third with 310 total boards. The redshirt-junior's 17 double-doubles ranks second in the NCAA, and his 7.80 defensive rebound average is good for 14th. Pope is second in the MEAC in total blocks (34) and third in average (1.36)

4 Pope has posted three 20-rebound games and four 20-point games. He is tied for 11th in BCU single-season records for rebounds, and needs just seven more to set a BCU D1 record. He currently has 310 boards. Last year's MEAC Defensive Player of the Year, Soufi Diakite, led the conference with 313

5 The 'Cats lead the MEAC in defensive rebounding average (27.96), offensive boards (13.64), rebounding average (41.60), FG defense (40.2%), and 3pt defense (29.6%)

Cletrell Pope posted his 17th double-double with 19 points, and teammate Mark Gordon dropped 19 off the bench, but Bethune-Cookman fell to visiting Howard 79-73, Monday night at Historic Moore Gym.

Last Time vs. SCSU 1/3/18

Double-doubles by Shawntrez Davis and Malik Maitland charged a second half comeback to lead Bethune-Cookman University to an 86-80 triumph against South Carolina State Wednesday evening at Historic Moore Gymnasium. The win gives the Wildcats (6-9, 1-0) a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opening victory, and snaps a four-game losing skid.

vs. SSU 2/24/18

Armani Collins scored a career-high 27 points and Isaiah Bailey triple-doubled with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists as Bethune-Cookman raced to a 121-92 victory in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference first-place battle Saturday evening.

The Wildcats posted their highest offensive total since a 128-76 win over Morris Brown in 1996, set a single-game record  for assists (33) and their Division I rebounding record (59) and tied their single-game three-point field goal mark of 16 in a match-up of teams with 10-3 records in the conference. The other team, North Carolina A&T, played Florida A&M Saturday evening and plays Bethune-Cookman Monday.

The Wildcats remain on the road to face rival Florida A&M on Saturday, Feb. 23.
