@BCUWBB Game Day: Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE -- Bethune-Cookman resumes its rivalry with Florida A&M Saturday in a key Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game at 2 p.m. in the Al Lawson Center.

The Lady Wildcats (16-9 overall, 9-4 MEAC) are riding a four-game winning streak as they hope to strengthen their seeding for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference March 11-16 in Norfolk, Va.

Right now, BCU is in third place,  two games behind Maryland-Eastern Shore for second while a half-game ahead of Norfolk State and a full game ahead of Howard.  The top four teams earn first-round byes at the tournament.

Saturday's game is the Lady Wildcats' final regular season road game. They're 6-7 overall and 5-2 in league play on the road so far.

THE RIVALRY: While men's basketball has a nine-game winning streak and football eight, the Lady Wildcats' run in the Florida A&M series is five, just as is softball's. BCU's last lost to FAMU was a 53-48 decision on 2/20/16. Head Coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis has improved to 11-11 against Florida A&M in her 11-year tenure at BCU.

CALL US BUTTER: BCU is coming off Monday's 68-47 win at Savannah State that saw the Lady Wildcats post their largest margin of victory and best defensive effort since the season opener against Edward Waters. BCU is also 5-1 in February and 20-2 in the month over the past three seasons.

#(ANGEL)GOLDENSTATE: Senior Angel Golden will move into fourth place alone on BCU's all-time scoring list with her next point.  She can post the seventh 500 point season if she scores 10. This week saw her receive MEAC POTW honors for the third consecutive week and sixth time this season.

#WHATCAN(CHAS)BROWNDO?: Senior Chasimmie Brown needs five blocked shots to reach 100 for her career. She's been averaging a double-double during league play.

STATS AND STUFF:  BCU has shot 40 percent from the field or better its last three game and has won the rebounding the last four … Freshman Camary Harris has reached double figure scoring in four of the past seven games, including a career-high 18 against Savannah State.

ABOUT FAMU: The Rattlers (4-21,2-11) have lost six of the last seven … Mya Moye leads the scoring with an average of 11.3 ppg.
