SAVANNAH, Ga. – Jackie Smith and
Quianah Mitchell each had three hits, and Briana Paysinger and
Sasha Killings each had a big hit as Bethune-Cookman downed Savannah State 7-5 to conclude a three-game sweep of a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division series Sunday.
Killings smacked a three-run homer in the first, while Paysinger drove a double down the right field line down for two runs in the second that gave the Wildcats (12-22 overall, 3-0 MEAC) an early 5-2 lead.
Kaiya Epps-Lee drove in Smith in the sixth while Briana Sanders scored on Mitchell's infield single in the seventh.
Savannah State (4-17,0-3) closed to 7-5 in the seventh but could come no closer.
Alexis Bermudez improved to 5-14 with the win, striking out a season-high 10.
BCU travels to Florida for a 6 p.m. game Wednesday.
