Pope New MEAC Record Holder In Home Finale

Forward records 17/13 in loss to Rattlers

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Cletrell Pope set the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference single-season double-double record with his 21st in a 17-point, 13-rebound effort. However, Bethune-Cookman fell to Florida A&M, 64-56, at Historic Moore Gymnasium.
 
The Wildcats (14-16, 9-7) begin next week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament as the five seed against Howard University on Thursday, Mar. 14, at 8 p.m.
 
The Wildcats had multiple opportunities to gain the lead in the second half, but a 12-0 run by the visitors kept BCU away. Isaiah Martin dunked with 8:20 remaining and capped off the run with a lay-in at 2:26.
 
BCU cut the deficit to five on a Dondre Duffus three with 18 seconds remaining, but Kamron Reaves sank three free throws to close the game.
 
FAMU (12-18, 9-7) was led by Martin's 21 points, nine rebounds, and six blocks. The Rattlers are ineligible for postseason play and finish in a tie with BCU I nthe final standings.
