ORLANDO – Bethune-Cookman University's Carlin Berryhill was edged out by Florida Atlantic's Lachlan Shiver for individual honors late Friday at the UCF Invitational.

The 2018 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion clocked an 8K time of 25:06.08, just behind Shiver's winning time of 25:05.50. Berryhill finished ahead of all five University of Florida scorers that produced the Gators' win in the team competition.

"It was a great race," Berryhill said. "I still have some things I need to fix, but overall I'm happy how the race went. There's always room for improvement."

BCU finished fourth in the five-team event.

Freshman DaMauri Little was 14^th (27:23.20); Matthew Bergschneider  20^th (29:09.13); DeAndre Petty 24^th (30:08.63) and Olusegun Abudu 30^th (34:47.47). All five BCU runners had personal records.

In the women's 6K run, Brittany Gill finished 26^th (25:28.72); Vel'Lance Wells 32^nd (26:56.93) and Bernita Brown 37^th (28:44.79).

BCU returns the action next Saturday at the USF Invitational in its final meet before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships October 26^th.
