DELAND, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University Tennis began the
George Henry era Sunday morning with the Wildcat men dropping a 5-2 decision to Stetson at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
Stetson (1-2) took the doubles point and four of the six singles matches to spoil Henry's debut as Wildcat coach of a young men's squad.
"I'm excited to have young players with such talent," Henry said. "Any first year coach building a program with a team consisting of four freshman, a junior and a sophomore would feel it a blessing.
Â
"Considering the short amount of preparation time as a team and being such a young and inexperienced team, we need to make a few adjustments here and there," Henry added. "But I felt the team played well."
Â
Highlighting the day were singles victories by
Victor Castro at No. 1 and
Gerhard Sullwald at No. 3 singles. The two were leading their No. 1 doubles match when play was suspended.
Â
"Sulllwald and Castro both brought their "A" games," Henry said. "I was really impressed with their competitive spirits."

BCU returns to action Wednesday at Embry-Riddle.
