WASHINGTON, DC---Cletrell Pope poured in a career-high 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and
Joe French came off the bench to tally 26 as Bethune-Cookman ran by Howard University 102-73 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic game in Burr Gymnasium Monday.

BCU scored 100 points on the road for the first time in league play since a 103-92 win at South Carolina State on January 15, 1990.

The Wildcats (7-9, 1-1 MEAC) bolted out to an 33-14 early lead and never looked back as Pope (14 points) and French (15 points) combined for 29 points as BCU took  a 50-37 halftime lead.

A senior forward, Pope did most of his damage around the basket, connecting on 11 of 18 from the field en route to his 31st career double-double. French provided balance to the attack with his outside stroke, hitting on 8 of 11 overall, and 5 of 8 from beyond the arc.

It was more of the same in the second stanza as senior guard
Isaiah Bailey (13 points) and junior guard
Malik Maitland (11 points) got in the act. Maitland also dished out 10 assists for his first double-double as a Wildcat.
Bethune-Cookman shot season bests 56 percent from the field and 87 percent (20 of 23) from the free throw line, Â The Wildcats were also 45 percent (10 of 22) from three-point range while getting 24 assists on 36 baskets.
Howard (2-14, 0-2) got 25 points from freshman guard Wayne Bristol, Jr. that tied his career high, 15 from senior guard Charles "CJ" Williams and a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds from junior forward Zion Cousins.
BCU hosts Coppin State Saturday.
