PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Bethune-Cookman nearly worked itself out of an 18-0 hole but dropped a 66-58 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road decision at Maryland-Eastern Shore Saturday.
AJ Cheeseman had 17 points as the Hawks (4-21 overall,3-7 MEAC) snapped a two-game Wildcat (12-13,6-5) winning streak.
Cletrell Pope finally got BCU on the board after the Wildcats went the first 5:39 scoreless, then began chipping at the Hawks lead.
BCU pulled to 55-50 on a
Wali Parks jumper with 4:46 remaining, Â but the Hawks held BCU scoreless the next two minutes. Pope closed it to 58-54 on a dunk with 58 seconds remaining and
Isaiah Bailey made it 62-58 with 26 seconds left, but that's as close as it got.
Bailey had 17 points for the Wildcats while Parks added 14 points and nine rebounds.
Joe French had 11 points and Pope had 10 points and 15 rebounds.
BCU plays Delaware State Monday night.
