DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman begins the second half of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play with a crucial showdown with defending regular season champion North Carolina A&T Saturday at 2 p.m. on Cy McClairen Court in Historic Moore Gym.

Not only did last Saturday's 78-57 win over Florida A&M give the Lady Wildcats (15-5 overall, 7-1 MEAC), their seventh straight win, it moved them into a tie with Norfolk State atop the league standings thanks to the Spartans' loss to … wait for it … the Aggies, who are a half-game behind at 7-2 in the league and 15-6 overall.

The Lady Wildcats will play five of their eight remaining games at home.

STORY LINES:
  • BCU's 15-5 mark is the program's sixth best after 20 games. Four teams, the last in 1985, were 17-3.
  • The Lady Wildcats are back in the "receiving votes" group on the College Insider Mid-Major poll.
  • BCU is seventh in the nation in 3FG% (25.3). Another MEAC team – Delaware State  -- is sixth at 25.1.
  • Notes about the winning streak:
    • The smallest margin of victory is nine points (Morgan State).
    • BCU has shot no worse than 41.1 percent (South Carolina State) while opponents have shot no better  than 36.2 (Howard) in each game
    • It's the 23rd longest active streak in the country – Gonzaga currently has the longest at 21.
    • Amaya Scott has scored in double figures all seven games and is on a nine-game streak.
  • Ashanti Hunt needs 71 points to reach 1,000. She also needs nine wins to pass Angel Golden (84) for career victories.
  • More Stats: Daniella Hatcher snapped a three-game double-figure draught with 14 at Florida A&M … Kiana Williams' 22 points – 7 assists – 4 steal stat line against Florida A&M on the one year anniversary of her ACL surgery helped her snag MEAC Co-Player Of The Week honors and space on the NCAA Women's basketball social media platforms … BCU 11-0 when it has a better FG% … The visiting team has won the last four meetings; BCU was the last home team to win in 2015 when Kailyn Williams posted the program's first triple double.
SCOUTING REPORT: The Aggies lead the league in scoring defense (55.2 ppg) … DeJa Winters is averaging 12.1 ppg … After beating Norfolk State last Saturday, the Aggies beat South Carolina State 66-55.
