HOME AGAIN: The Miami game will be a homecoming for freshman
Kayla Clark, who prepped at Central HS. She averaged 14.2 points and 9.8 rebounds her junior season at Central. She shot 48 percent from the field and was considered among the best post players in Dade County. Clark had nine points and seven rebounds in the Edward Waters win.
ABOUT MIAMI: The Hurricanes opened the season Tuesday with a 72-67 decision over Jackson State, giving Katie Meier a record 304 coaching victories at the "U". Three Canes scored in double-figures on Tuesday, led by graduate student Kelsey Marshall who scored 19 points and knocked down five threes. In their Canes' debut, graduate student Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi and junior Lola Pendande each tallied 12 points, while senior Naomi Mbandu paced Miami in rebounding with eight.
As a team, Miami poured in 11 threes and hauled in 51 rebounds, the most boards for the Canes since the 2020-21 season opener against Jacksonville on Nov. 25 (51).
