DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --After opting out of the 2020-2021 season, Bethune-Cookman women's basketball returns in full force eager to make a return to the NCAA tournament with a new coaching staff and in a new conference -- the Southwestern Athletic Conference.The Lady Wildcats open the 2021-22 campaign Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Edward Waters in Historic Moore Gymnasium.
Janell Crayton is the seventh Head Coach in the Lady Wildcat program history since its 1976 restoration. She succeeds Vanessa Blair-Lewis, who is the now the coach at George Mason.
 
After 40 years in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Wildcats made the move to the Southwestern Athletic Conference this year. B-CU was picked to finish eighth in the 12-team league in the preseason poll.
 
Five returning players from 2020 are on the roster, including two who played in the 2019 NCAA tournament -- 
Camary Harris and 
Tania White. Three players -- 
Morgan Beacham, 
Tatum Hayes and 
Imani Reid -- joined Harris and White on the 2020 team that won 15 games in a row en route to a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship.
