Daytona Beach, Fla. – Wildcat baseball returns to Daytona Beach this spring, as the Wildcats announce their 55-game 2022 schedule, highlighted by 19 games at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, stops at LSU, FSU, and UF, and a 30-game conference schedule for the Wildcats' inaugural season in the SWAC.

The Wildcats open the season at home at Jackie Robinson Ballpark with an eight-game homestand. The season gets underway on Friday, Feb. 18, when B-CU takes on visiting Youngstown State. The opening homestand also features visits from FIU (Feb. 22), FGCU (Feb. 25-27), and Jacksonville (Mar. 2).

The Wildcats open their road schedule with a quick trip to DeLand to take on Sacred Heart and Stetson on the weekend of March 5, followed by a return home to take on UCF on March 8.

On March 11, the Wildcats will head out of state for the first time to take on LSU in Baton Rouge for a three-game series. The Tigers fell to #3 Tennessee in the NCAA Super Regional a season ago. B-CU wraps up the meat of its non-conference schedule with a single game at FSU on March 16.

Wildcats head coach Jonathan Hernandez emphasized the importance of a tough non-conference schedule:

"As we transition into the SWAC, I believe our non-conference schedule will get us prepared for league play," Hernandez said. "I think it will challenge our guys to be at our best towards the end of the season."

The Wildcats open SWAC play at home on March 18, when the 2021 SWAC Eastern division champions, Jackson State, visit Jackie Robinson Ballpark for three games. The Tigers went a perfect 24-0 in conference play and 31-8 overall a season ago.

Rounding out the Wildcats' 30-game SWAC schedule, B-CU will host Alabama State (March 25-27), Florida A&M (April 8-10), Mississippi Valley State (April 22-24), and Alabama A&M (13-15) in that order. B-CU visits each of those teams, beginning with MVSU (April 1-5), and followed by AAMU (April 14-16), ASU (April 29-May 1), JSU (May 6-8), and FAMU (May 19-21).

Sprinkled across the Wildcats SWAC schedule are stops at non-conference opponents across the state of Florida: UF (March 22, May 10), USF (March 29), FIU (April 5), Stetson (April 12), Miami (April 19), Jacksonville (May 3) and UCF (May 17).

The SWAC tournament begins on May 25. It will be hosted by Jackson State.

Hernandez is ready for his team to get back to work this season:

"The 2022 schedule is going to be another tough, challenging season for B-CU baseball," Hernandez said. "We had a great fall season, and I'm excited for us to finally get back on the field and compete this spring. I expect to see some great growth and development from our players.
