Poughkeepsie, NY – A tough night shooting the ball sunk the Wildcats, as B-CU fell to Marist, 68-45, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
How It Happened
Marist (6-5, 1-1 MAAC) took command of the game early in the first half, jumping out to a 24-9 lead through 13 minutes of play. Bethune-Cookman (2-9, 0-0 SWAC) cut the lead back down to as little as nine as the first half came to a close, but Marist continued to pull away for the 68-45 victory.
Marcus Garrett led the Wildcats with nine points, followed by Demani McEntire and
Calvin Poulina, who each scored seven. McEntire and
Joe French each finished with eight rebounds.
Samkelo Cele led Marist with 18 points. Two other Red Foxes scored in double figures as Marist shot 47 percent from the floor on the night.
Game Notes
- The Wildcats shot only 21 percent from the field on the night, and made only three of 12 three-point attempts.
- The Wildcats had success getting to the free throw line, earning 22 free throws and converting them into 16 points.
- Eight different Wildcats attempted at least one free throw in the game.
