DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Taylor Williams scored 11 points in Bethune-Cookman's 74-47 Southwestern Athletic Conference setback to Southern Monday night in Moore Gymnasium.
Kayla Watson scored 17 points as the league-leading Jaguars (6-9,4-0) outscored the Wildcats (2-11,0-3) 25-5 in the third quarter to pull away from a 28-27 halftime lead. Southern scored the period's first 17 points and were 11-20 from the field compared to 2-9 for B-CU.
Southern also started the game on a 10-0 run, but the Wildcats rallied to take a 13-12 on
Camary Harris' free throw with 45 seconds left in the quarter.
In the second period, B-CU used a 7-0 run and led 20-14 on
Kayla Clark's free throw with 8:21 left in the half.
B-CU had a 27-26 lead with 41 seconds left on a Clark free throw.
Kayla White had nine points and
Tania White seven for B-CU.
The Wildcats make their first conference road trip this weekend, facing Mississippi Valley State Saturday afternoon.
