Scouting the Tigers
Jackson State is 4-12 this season, with a 2-3 start to SWAC play. After opening conference play with three straight losses, the Tigers have rebounded – winning back-to-back home games a weekend ago against Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.
Jackson State is the lowest-scoring team in the SWAC, scoring 58.1 points per game. However, the Tigers have also allowed the fewest points against at 67.4 per game. They block the second-most shots per game in the conference at just under four per game.
Jayveous McKinnis is the Tigers' leading scorer, averaging 12 points per game. He has been one of the most effective defensive players in the SWAC's -leading the conference in rebounding at nearly ten per game and blocked shots at nearly three per game. He has also been the most efficient shooter in the conference, shooting over 55 percent from the floor.
Scouting the Braves
Alcorn State is 5-12 this season with a 4-1 start in the SWAC. The Braves were undefeated through their first four SWAC games before falling 74-73 to Prairie View A&M on a Panthers free throw with four seconds left. The Braves had a chance to win the game in the final seconds but could not convert either of a pair of free throws.
The Braves average 62.7 points per game and allow an average of 72.9 points per game. They have been the second-best three-point shooting team in the SWAC, shooting 33 percent as a team. Alcorn State is shooting just over 40 percent from the field as a team.
Troymain Crosby leads the Braves on offense, averaging 19 points per game. Justin Thomas is the SWAC's assists per game leader, dishing out 4.3 per game. He also leads in assist/turnover ratio, as he averages only two turnovers per game

- At least one Wildcat has scored over 15 points in six straight games, highlighted by a 31-point showing from French and a 26-point effort from Davis. Four of the top 20 scoring performances in the SWAC this season belong to either Joe French or Kevin Davis.
- Joe French is shooting 42 percent from the field this season – fifth-best among qualified SWAC players. He attempts the second most three pointers per game in the conference.
- Dylan Robertson's 24 blocks are the second-highest total in the conference.
- Damani McEntire has totaled 33 steals this season, the fourth-highest total in the SWAC.
All-Time Series
Saturday's game will be the first ever meeting between Jackson State and Bethune-Cookman.
Monday will be only the second-ever meeting between B-CU and Alcorn State. The last time the two teams met on the floor was all the way back on December 1, 1966, when the Wildcats defeated the Braves, 95-85.
