DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Kayla White and
Morgan Beacham each scored 15 points in Bethune-Cookman's heartbreaking 70-68 loss to Florida A&M Monday night in the Southwestern Athletic Conference debut for both teams.
FAMU's Malesha Bell hit a jumper as time expired as the Rattlers (1-11 overall, 1-0 conference) snapped the B-CU (2-9,0-1) 9-game winning streak in the rivalry.
B-CU led 68-65 on White's two free throws with 22 seconds remaining but could not score again.
Imani Reid gave B-CU's its biggest lead as 56-47 with 9:07 left, capping off an 11-2 run.
Taylor Williams scored 14 points and
Tania White 10 for B-CU, who scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 32-27 halftime lead.
Dylan Horton led the Rattlers with 22.
B-CU hosts Grambling State Saturday afternoon.
