DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Chanel Wilson scored 19 points as Bethune-Cookman dropped a 79-62 decision to Florida Atlantic in its home opener Monday night in Historic Moore Gym.
Wilson, a 5-7 graduate student, was 6-18 from the field and 5-5 from the line for the Wildcats, now 0-2.
Joiya Maddox and and Dylann Hanna scored 13 points each to lead five Florida Atlantic players in double figures. The Owls (1-0) pulled away from a 15-13 lead after the first quarter to take a 40-29 halftime lead.
B-CU closed to 53-45 at the end of the third quarter but could pull no closer.
Morgan Beacham scored 13 points for the Wildcats, while Nia Jordan added 11. Kerrigham Dunn scored seven while Kayla Clark had five points and seven rebounds.
B-CU travels to Florida Friday for a 6 p.m. contest.
