DELAND, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman closes out 2022 close to home with two game at the Hatter Classic Sunday and Monday at Stetson University.
The Wildcats (0-8) will meet Winthrop (2-7) Sunday at 1 p.m. and Akron (6-2) Monday at 1 p.m.
In its last game at Iona, Bethune-Cookman found itself down 26 points before closing to one point with 4.8 seconds remaining, but Iona held on for a 60-57 decision.
Chanel Wilson led B-CU with 20 points, while
D'Shantae Edwards double-doubled with 14 points and 10 steals, the latter the second highest single-game total in program history.
STATS AND STUFF
- Wilson is third in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in scoring (16.6 ppg) and free throw percentage (.815) and first in three-pointer per game (2.4)
- Kayla Clark is sixth in rebounding (6.0 per game).
- Edwards is now first in steals (3.1 per game).
SCOUTING
Winthrop has been idle since a 61-38 victory over South Carolina State Dec. 3. Sham'jua Price and Paige Powell led the Eagles with scoring averages of 9.3 apiece,
Akron (6-2) is led by Reagan Bass (16.5 ppg) and Layne Farrell (12.3)
