Wildcats Make Final Homestand of 2022

Daytona Beach, FL – Bethune-Cookman men's basketball will take the floor at Moore Gymnasium for the final time this season as they welcome in Alabama A&M on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m., followed by an ESPNU matchup with Alabama State, Monday, Feb. 21 at 9:00 p.m.
 
Monday's game will be a Wildcats White Out, with fans receiving free T-shirts and food while supplies last. It is also senior day, as the Wildcats will honor Jakolby Long in the final home game of his Wildcats' career. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

Recap
 
The Wildcats took another weekend split last time out. B-CU defeated Alcorn State, 71-63 in overtime before taking a tough, 51-71 loss to Jackson State on Monday. The Wildcats continue to sit on the cusp of a SWAC tournament berth, sitting only a single conference win behind the four teams ahead of them in the standings.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs
 
The Bulldogs are 7-16 and 6-7 in conference play this season. Back on Jan. 31, the Bulldogs defeated B-CU in Huntsville, Ala., 67-52. Only five Wildcats scored in that game, led by Kevin Davis with 12. Alabama A&M is 2-2 in games since and winners of two straight over Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas – Pine Bluff.
 
The Bulldogs are averaging the second-fewest points per game in the SWAC at 60 per game, and they are allowing 75.2 points per game. They are shooting a conference-worst 37 percent from the field and only 26.2 percent from deep.
 
Jalen Johnson leads his team with 16 points per game on over 47 percent shooting. He also leads his squad with 7 rebounds per game. Cameron Tucker has dished out over 80 assists on the season.
 
Scouting the Hornets
 
Alabama State is 6-19 and 5-8 in SWAC play this season. Last time the Hornets and Wildcats met, B-CU fell, 79-73 despite 27 points from Joe French and 24 from Marcus Garrett. The Hornets are 1-4 since including back-to-back losses at home against UAPB and MVSU.

Alabama State scores 67 points per game and allows 75 per game. The Hornets shoot 41 percent from the field and 32 percent from deep this season.
 
The Hornets are led on offense by Trace Young's 11.8 points per game. He also averages 5.1 rebounds per game. Jordan O'Neal bas blocked 30 shots on the season.
 
Notes
  • Three Wildcats are in the top 15 in scoring in the SWAC this season. Joe French, Kevin Davis, and Marcus Garrett each crack the leaderboard.
  • Joe French is the SWAC's most accurate three-point shooter – his 42 percent 3PT% is over six percent higher than the next-best qualified shooter.
  • Davis ranks second in the SWAC in rebounds per game at 7.8.
  • The Wildcats have gotten to the free throw line at least 15 times in sixteen of 25 games this season, including seven of their last nine.
