Recap

The Wildcats will look to rebound from an 0-2 weekend. B-CU was downed by Alabama A&M, 62-60 after shooting only 32 percent from the field. The Wildcats then took an 89-78 loss to Alabama State on ESPNU – Joe French, Kevin Davis, and Marcus Garrett combined for 65 points, but the Wildcats could not overcome a deficit late.

Scouting the Jaguars

The Jaguars are 15-11 on the year and 10-4 in SWAC play. Southern fell to Grambling State, 61-57 last weekend at home. The Jaguars defeated the Wildcats, 69-59, when the two teams met back on Jan. 10 at Moore Gymnasium. The Wildcats led that game at halftime, 38-36, but shot only 26 percent in the second half in the loss.

Southern averages a SWAC-best 73.5 points per game and allows an average of 68.5 points per game. They are shooting a conference-best 45 percent from the field and 37 percent from deep. They also lead the SWAC in turnover margin and assists.

Tyrone Lyons leads the Jaguars with 13.7 points per game. Jayden Saddler leads his team and the SWAC with four assists per game.

Scouting the Tigers

Grambling State is 11-15 this season and 9-5 in conference play. They are 1-2 in their last three, most recently defeating Southern, 61-57 in Baton Rouge. Grambling defeated B-CU, 68-66 back on Jan. 8. Joe French scored 30, but a slow first half offensively was too much for the Wildcats to overcome.

Grambling State scores 65.5 points per game and allows 71 per game. The Tigers shoot 40 percent from the field and 33 percent from deep this season. The Tigers have shot 72 percent from the free throw line this season.
