DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman hosts its first 2022 home series this weekend as Alabama State comes to Daytona Beach for a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series beginning Friday at 2 p.m. at Sunnyland Park.
The Wildcats (6-17 overall, 1-2 SWAC) opened SWAC play last weekend at Jackson State, taking the opener 3-0 behind a one-hit shutout from Hanna Ortega before Jackson State took the final two games.
B-CU is 0-1 at home this season, with the lone game a 1-0 loss to Tennessee State on March 8.
Ortega enters the series with a 3.29 ERA, while
Halyne Gonzalez is at 3.29. The Wildcats are fourth in the SWAC with a team 3.89 ERA.
Offensively,
Haley Parks has a .246 average, while
Briana Paysinger is hitting .229.
The Hornets (11-12, 3-0 SWAC) enters the weekend after a sweep of Florida A&M.
First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. on Friday with a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon,
