DELAND, Fla. – Neither an eight-inning game or one-run decision went Bethune-Cookman's way Friday at the Stetson Invitational.
FIU scored three in the eighth to down B-CU 6-3 in the opening game, then USC-Upstate posted a 2-1 decision in the nightcap.
B-CU (4-12) will meet the same two teams Saturday, facing USC-Upstate at 10 a.m. followed by FIU at 12:30 p.m.
The Wildcats had the bases loaded with one out in the seventh, but FIU got out the jam by turning the double play. The Panthers broke the tie in the eighth.
Julissa Gomez' two-run double in the fourth tied the game, The next inning,
Haley Parks doubled in a run to tie the game at 3-3.
Briana Velazquez had two hits for the Wildcats in the game.
In game two,
Joslynn Davis drove in a run to tie game in the third, but USC-Update scored on a throwing error in the fourth and shut down the Wildcats the rest of the way.
Shania Owens had two hits for the Wildcats in game two.

"We started putting better at bats together in the first game, then we stepped away from the plan. We were making things happen, but errors caught up to us.
