Wildcats Handle Suns, 96-24

Pair of Wildcat Double-Doubles Lead B-CU Over Johnson

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman's defense led the way as the Wildcats took down Johnson University, 96-24, Tuesday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium.

Header How it Happened

A slow start in a chilly Moore Gymnasium saw Bethune-Cookman (6-3, 0-0 SWAC) and Johnson (2-5, 0-1 NCCAA) combine for just one point through the first three minutes of play before Chanel Wilson connected on the first three of the day to kickstart the Wildcat offense. From there, B-CU did not skip a beat, outscoring the Suns 24-3 in the first frame. The Wildcats allowed their first basket of the contest with just under two minutes in the quarter.

The defensive showcase continued into the second quarter, as the Wildcats forced 17 first-half turnovers, allowing zero points, en route to a 54-3 halftime lead led by a 12-point Kayla Clark double-double.

The Suns battled early in the second half, keeping pace with the Wildcats with 13 points in the third quarter thanks to a 3-6 clip from behind the arc.

The Wildcats closed out the win allowing only six fourth-quarter points as they completed the 96-24 victory.

Kayla Clark led the Wildcats with a double-double featuring 18 points and 17 rebounds. O'Mariyah Tucker added a double-double of her own with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
