Huntsville, Ala. – A defensive battle did not got the Wildcats way Saturday night as they fell late to the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M, 50-48 in Huntsville, Ala.
The Wildcats (10-14, 9-5 SWAC) fell behind early as the Bulldogs (12-12, 10-4 SWAC) jumped in front, 18-7 after one quarter of play.
B-CU continued to battle back, taking the lead in the third period as the defensive battle continued. The Wildcats led as late as two minutes remaining in the fourth, but back-to-back threes for AAMU were the difference as B-CU fell 50-48.
Chanel Wilson led the Wildcats with 21 points.
D'Shantae Edwards finished with 10.
Kayla Clark added eight boards and a block.
- The Wildcats made 9 of 17 free throws on the night.
- AAMU scored 21 points off the bench to the Wildcats' 7.
- The Wildcats scored 20 points in the paint.
The Wildcats won't go far for Monday night's matchup as they travel to Montgomery. The President's Day contest is scheduled for 4 p.m.
