Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Wildcats wrapped up The Spring Games in style with a 4-1 victory over Southern Indiana, Sunday afternoon in Madeira Beach, Fla.
How It Happened
The Wildcats nearly struck first in the first inning, but were foiled as
Kayla Traylor was cut down at the plate on a ball into right field.
Kalley Earlington opened the top of the fourth with a double down the line into left field. She advanced to third on a wild pitch before
Haley Parks brought her home with a single to left to open the scoring. Parks stole second, advanced to third on an infield single from Shanai Owens, and scored on a wild pitch.
Samantha Kelly made it 3-0, Wildcats, on a bouncing single through the left side, scoring Owens from third.
Earlington came through again in the fifth, doubling off the wall in left center, scoring
Joslynn Davis to make it 4-0.
USI threatened in the bottom of the fifth, but ended the threat on a wild play that saw a Screaming Eagles single end in a double play as the catcher.
The Screaming Eagles grabbed one run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double, but that would be all as the Wildcats held on for the 4-1 victory.
Victoria Guzman was stellar on the mound for B-CU. She earned the win after a complete game in which she allowed only the one run on five hits.
Notes
