Harmon's Block Quells Prairie View Comeback

Wildcats hold on behind 21 points from Jakobi Heady

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Zion Harmon chased down Kevin McGaskey for a game-saving block as B-CU staved off a Prairie View A&M comeback to improve to 5-5 on the season, Saturday evening at Moore Gymnasium.  Header How it Happened In typical Wildcats fashion, Bethune-Cookman (11-12, 5-5 SWAC) opened the contest with a two-handed Jakobi Heady slam as they jumped in front, 6-0.

That lead ballooned to 20-8 at the under-12 media timeout as Prairie View A&M (9-14, 4-6 SWAC) started the game only 4-13 from the field with four turnovers.

The Panthers began to find their footing, cutting it to single digits on Chris Felix and-one that made it 25-16. Dhashon Dyson's three ball with seven minutes in the half made it a 30-18 lead.

Damani McEntire's pull-up three ball gave B-CU a 20-point advantage with five to play in the half.

An 8-0 Prairie View run continued to keep things interesting at 38-26. The Wildcats headed into the half up 40-28 on 53 percent shooting from the field.

The B-CU lead dropped to 10 two minutes into the half as Charles lane drained a pair of free throws to make it a 42-32 ballgame. The lead fell to single digits as Brian Myles' layup made it 44-36.

The comeback continued for the Panthers, as Orlando Horton's free throw made it just a five-point game at the 15-minute mark. The Wildcats called timeout up just 49-44 with 13 minutes to play.

Zion Harmon helped stop the bleeding with a floater and-one that made it 59-50. Reggie Ward Jr. put up an and-one of hi sown to put the Wildcats up 66-53 with nine minutes remaining.

Dhashon Dyson's three continued to keep the Panthers at bay to keep B-CU in front at 70-61.

The Panthers enslaught continued as PVAMU cut it to three at 74-71 before Derrick Carter-Hollinger Jr. answered with a hook shot at the other end to keep B-CU up five with four minutes to play.

The Panthers threatened to cut things to a two-point game, but Harmon recovered from a B-CU turnover for a game-saving block of Kevin McGaskey, and B-CU held on for the 84-78 victory.
