Jessica Alaan and
Joyce Bloome each registered multi-hit performances Saturday as Bethune-Cookman Softball dropped two-of-two at the Hatter Classic hosted by Stetson at Patricia Wilson Field. The Cats fell 9-0 to Colgate in the morning, before suffering a 5-0 setback to Stetson in the nightcap.

COLGATE 9, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 0
Joyce Bloome turned in a 2-for-3 outing at the plate Saturday morning as Bethune-Cookman fell 9-0 to Colgate in the day's opening game of the Hatter Classic hosted by Stetson at Patricia Wilson Field. For B-CU, it was the second time in as many games the Cats lost to the Colgate Raiders in this year's Hatter Classic.

Colgate (3-5) plated the first run of the day with Kara Fusco's sacrifice fly to left center that was deep enough to bring in Rachel Carney. The Raiders leadoff batter and shortstop began the game being hit by a
Halyne Gonzalez pitch before eventually stealing second base to work herself into scoring position. Carney advanced to third a batter later with a Jillian Herbst single.

Bethune-Cookman (1-7) threatened in the home-half of the second.

With
Briana Velazquez on first, senior centerfielder
Joslynn Davis collected a two-out single to left, followed by a walk drawn from
Kallie Earlington to load the bases on Colgate starting pitcher Bailey Misken. However, the bases would remain loaded in the end with Misken getting the force at home on the
Essence Gibbs at-bat that saw Colgate third baseman Elizabeth Nitka make the timely throw to the plate for the force out and end the inning.

The Raiders extended their lead to 3-0 in the third inning after \Herbst singled and Kiley Shelton followed with a two-run home run clear the wall in left center field.

Colgate would push another run across in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Niamh Dougherty.

The Raiders would eventually blow the game open in the seventh, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs on four hits and two (2) Wildcats errors in the frame. Key hits in the inning included a bases-clearing triple from Herbst, as well as an RBI double from Fusco. Together, the Raiders dup combined for five hits and six RBIs, respectively.

BCU struggled with timely hits during the morning game, with the Wildcats managing seven hits and stranding 10 runners on base.

Colgate's Misken grabbed the win to up her record at 2-1 on the year as she turned in the complete-game shutout on seven hits and four walks. The loss went to BCU's Gonzalez, dropping her to 1-5 for the year, as the Norwalk, California product threw 6.1 innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits, one walk and picking up two strikeouts.

Herbst led Colgate's offense, going 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. Shelton supplied three RBIs of her own in addition to the two-run homer, while both Carney and Fusco added two hits and an RBI.

The Wildcats offense was sparked by
Joyce Bloome from her right field position, as the Downingtown, Pennsylvania native ended the game 2-for-3 at the plate.

STETSON 5, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 0
Jessica Alaan tallied a two-hit afternoon on Saturday, as Bethune-Cookman Softball dropped a 5-0 decision to the host Stetson Hatters at Patricia Wilson Field as part of this year's Hatter Classic. For the Wildcats, the loss was their fourth of the weekend in the annual event.

Stetson (2-6) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Â
Addison Foster led off with a single and stole second base. After a fly out, Kami Eppley reached on a bunt single and also stole second. The Hatters centerfielder then scored on an RBI sac bunt from Briana Robinson. Annabella McClerren followed in the five-hole with an RBI double to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

Bethune-Cookman (1-8) managed six hits on the day but could not push a run across as Stetson pitcher Hannah Marien tossed a complete-game shutout.

The Hatters added two more runs in the third inning on an RBI sac fly from designated player Briana Robinson and an RBI single by McClerren. Stetson tacked on a final insurance run to produce the 5-0 scoreline in the home-half of the fifth inning courtesy a RBI sac bunt from Marissa Baxter.

The Hatters used a perfect 3-for-3 showing at the dish from Eppley to lead all batters, as she added a pair of runs as well.

Jessica Alaan and
Brooklyn Scott had two hits each to lead the Wildcats. Meanwhile, catcher
Thais Uyema was joined by
Essence Gibbs and
Ciera Clark with one hit apiece, respectively.

With the win, Stetson's Marien improved her r4ecord for the year at 1-3. She allowed just six hits in the seven innings pitched.

Alyssa Lopez started in the circle for Bethune-Cookman and was credited with the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits over three innings pitched. For the junior from Fontana, California. It was her first decision of the campaign. Junior right-hander
Angelina Badalament relieved Lopez and gave up just one run on two hits and adding a strikeout in her three innings out of the bullpen.

Bethune-Cookman's Sunday finale against Stetson has been canceled due to inclement weather. While the two teams are expected to announce a makeup date/time, no exact information on that pending game has been announced.
