Dyson leads the way in dominant downing of Southern

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Bethune-Cookman Men's Basketball wins its first ever Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) tournament game behind a dominant second half and 20 points from senior Dhashon Dyson, as the Wildcats defeated Southern, 73-58, Thursday night at Bartow Arena

With the win, the Wildcats now face a date with No. 1 seed Grambling State on Friday, March 15 at 3 p.m. EST in the SWAC Tournament Semifinals.
Header How it Happened The Wildcats (17-15, 11-7 SWAC) started quickly thanks to seven quick points from Dhashon Dyson as B-CU jumped in front 10-5.

A three ball by Jordan Johnson tied things at 12, and the Southern (18-14, 12-6 SWAC) went on to take their first lead since 1-0 at 17-16 on a Brandon Davis layup just past the halfway mark of the first half.

The two teams traded baskets as neither side led by more than three for the remaining ten minutes. The Wildcats entered the break on top 29-27.

The back-and-forth continued out of the half as Tidjaine Dioumassi's free throw tied things once again at 35-35. An 8-1 B-CU run put the Cats in front, 42-36 after another Dyson three, and the Jaguars never recovered.

After trimming things down to as low as five at the 12-minute mark, Southern could not come any closer as Zion Harmon's jumper ballooned the B-CU lead to 14 at 58-44 with seven minutes to play.

One final Dyson two gave B-CU its largest lead of the night at 73-56. Southern managed just one more jumper as they were sent home with the loss, 73-58.
