DAYTONA BEACH - Bethune-Cookman once again suffered a cold shooting performance, shooting just 30% from the field, as they fell to Stony Brook 61-54. The loss dropped them to 0-2 in the Sunshine Slam as they finish fourth in the Ocean Bracket.
1st Half
The Wildcats (2-5) and Sea Wolves (5-2) got into a slug fest in the first half, as neither team could get into any rhythm offensively. Both teams' shooting percentages dipped to 20% and both teams were sloppy with the basketball.
Erik Pratt made a jumper off a B-CU turnover with 7:13 left, giving the Sea Wolves the 19-15 advantage, but the Wildcats began to heat up from the field, scoring 15 during the remainder of the half. The defensive intensity picked up as a result, holding Stony Brook scoreless the rest of the way.
Overall, B-CU held Stony Brook to just 6-26 from the field while forcing 10 turnovers. They led 30-19 at halftime.
Quentin Heady scored 12 points, making eight of his ten attempts from the free-throw line.
2nd Half
Stony Brook began to break through offensively in the second half, reaching their first half point total in the first 10 minutes of the second. The Wildcats shot just 5-for-20 during the same stretch as the Sea Wolves cut into the lead.
Stony Brook tied the game at 42 off a dunk by Quin Gorman. They would take the lead with 4:39 off another make from Gorman as B-CU's shooting struggles continued.
The Sea Wolves were able to build on their lead thanks to Ethan Simmon, who made three-straight three-pointers in crunch time. They won the game 61-54, winning the second half 42-24.
- Quentin Heady led B-CU with a season-high 22 points. He shot 6-for-13 from the field and 10-for-14 from the free-throw line.
- Daniel Rouzan had 10 points.
- The Wildcats shot 22% in the second half.
- The Sea Wolves made 6-of-13 three-pointers in the second half.

The Wildcats travel to Indiana to take on the 25th ranked Hoosiers. The game is on November 29th and will begin at noon.
