Hatter Classic Next up for B-CU

DELAND, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman is set to make the short trip to DeLand to compete in the Hatter Classic. The Wildcats will open the tournament against Stonehill at 1:30 p.m. on Friday before returning to action Saturday against William & Mary.

1st Quarter
The Spiders (9-3) were able to build a significant advantage in the first and never allowed B-CU (2-8) to gain any momentum.

The Wildcats shot just 3-of-12 in the frame and committed six turnovers. Meanwhile, Maggie Doogan got off to a hot start for Richmond, scoring 11 points and picking up five early rebounds.

Richmond hit five of their thirteen three-point attempts in the quarter as they built a 25-10 going into the second.

2nd Quarter
B-CU shot much better in the second, hitting five of their 11 attempts from the field, but turnovers remained an issue. The Wildcats committed six more giveaways which led to several more scoring opportunities for the Spiders.

Richmond continued to use the three-point differential to their advantage, hitting four of their ten attempts compared to just two makes for the Wildcats.

Maggie Doogan continued to lead the charge for the home team, scoring 11 more points in the second on a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.

The Spiders led 47-23 at the break.

3rd Quarter
The Wildcats struggled mightily from the floor after halftime, shooting just 2-of-15 in the third quarter.

Richmond shot 7-of-15 and managed 22 points for their third 20+ point quarter of the contest.

4th Quarter
B-CU outscored Richmond 15-12 in the fourth, but it was too little to late. The Wildcats had 10 turnovers in the fourth quarter alone, but were able to shoot 50% from the floor.

The Spiders shot just 31.3% from the floor as the Richmond bench struggled to get into the same rhythm as the starters.
Scouting the Opponent In-Story Header
Stonehill is currently 3-5 on the season and will attempt to snap a four-game losing streak.

Junior guard Brooke Paquette leads the Skyhawks in scoring, averaging 12.4 per game. She is the only player averaging in double-figures.

Meanwhile, William & Mary is 5-4 and are looking to extend their current four-game winning streak, headlined by a three-point win on the road against Wake Forrest.

The Tribe are led in scoring by Cassidy Geddes at just under 15 points per game. Natalie Fox and Monet Dance are also scoring in double figures at 11.8 and 10.2 points, respectively.

History In-Story Header
The Hatter Classic will mark the first time the Wildcats have faced Stonehill or William & Mary in their history.
