Bradley-Tse Runs Hitting Streak to Five Games

Wildcats fall to Stetson on final day of Hatter Classic

DeLAND, Fla. – Junior outfielder Emma Bradley-Tse ran her hitting streak to five games on Sunday afternoon before Bethune-Cookman eventually fell to Stetson by a score of 2-0 on the final day of the Hatter Classic housed at Patricia Wilson Field in DeLand, Florida.

Stetson (8-3) wasted little time breaking the tie as the Hatters got on the scoreboard in the opening inning.

Hatters' leadoff hitter Addison Foster reached on a fielding error by Bethune-Cookman first baseman Molly Blackwood, before eventually making her way to third following a wild pitch from Bethune-Cookman starter Halyne Gonzalez. The Stetson shortstop came in for the game's opening run on the second of two B-CU miscues on the frame.

Bethune-Cookman (4-8) threatened in the top of the third when centerfielder Joslynn Davis lined a two-out double down the left field line. Emma Bradley-Tse followed with a single, before she was ultimately called out at first on a relay from Hatters catcher Dylan Anthony down the first base line to Riley Venn.

Stetson produced its second run of the game and the final 2-0 score line in the home-half of the fourth.

After Anthony worked a base on balls, pinch runner Alivia Taibl advanced to third on Annabella McClerren's single down the line in left. Venn's RBI groundout to B-CU second baseman Kendall Macauley was deep enough to plate Taibl for the score.

Hatters starting pitcher Ava Braswell Braswell (3-0) worked the complete game, scattering four hits across seven innings while striking out three and walking just one batter. Gonzalez (3-6) accepted the loss for Bethune-Cookman despite a solid outing where she allowed just the two runs (one earned), while walking four and striking out two over six innings.

The Stetson bats were charged by four different Hatters with a hit each in the game, including Annabella McClerren with a 2-for-2 showing.

The B-CU offense received four hits from four different players as well, while Bradley-Tse saw her on-base streak extend to five games in the process.

The Cats return to the diamond Thursday, Feb. 20, when taking on Nevada as part of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, California.
