DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. -  Kaleigh Williams of B-CU Volleyball and Andrew Kiplagat of B-CU Cross Country have been named Wildcats of the Week for the week of August 25-31, 2025.

Freshman middle blocker Kaleigh Williams came up big along the front line last week in helping Bethune-Cookman to a 2-1 record at the Aggie/Phoenix Invitational co-hosted by Elon and North Carolina A&T, respectively. Williams finished the weekend with 16 kills and an average of 1.33 kills per set across three matches altogether. Defensively, she produced a team-high 18 blocks (17 assisted) to go along with six digs. The Ellicott City, Maryland native began her B-CU career with nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage against the host Aggies, also contributing two assisted blocks. In the Wildcats' five-set win over fellow host Elon, Williams put down a match-high nine blocks (assisted) and four kills, adding an assist and one service aces, as Head Coach Brittany Williams achieved her 100th career win as a collegiate head coach - all coming at the helm in Daytona Beach.

Andrew Kiplagat registered a winning time in his first race as a member of Bethune-Cookman Men's Cross Country on Friday evening at the Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Invitational at Cecil Field. The event was hosted by the University of North Florida. Kiplagat, a junior transfer from Jackson State, set a school record en route to winning the men's 8K race with a time of 24:40.2. A native of Chebara, Kenya, Kiplagat won the event by six seconds over Siyabonga Mokgothu of Florida Gulf Coast, who finished with a mark of 24:46.5 on the night. The Bethune-Cookman men finished sixth in the team standings in an event with a score of 193.

Each week, The Bethune-Cookman Office of Athletic Communications recognizes one male and one female student-athlete through the Wildcats of the Week award.

This award recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in competition, in the classroom, and in the community over the past week, exemplifying the Championship Culture of Wildcat Athletics.
