BEAUFORT, S.C. – Bethune-Cookman cross country turned in a strong performance at the 19th Annual Sand Shark Invitational, with the Wildcats' men's team claiming first place and the women's team finishing runner-up in Beaufort.
The B-CU men dominated the team standings, placing first with 42 points. Junior
Andrew Kiplagat led the way for the Wildcats, winning the individual race with a time of 25:16.5.
Sophomore Jayden Santos-Gonzales followed with a third-place finish at 26:18.1, while sophomore
Victor Chebii crossed the line fourth in 27:07.7. Junior
Gerrard Griffin added a 15th-place finish in 28:42.5, and freshman
Jonathan Hall rounded out the Wildcats' scoring five with a 23rd-place finish in 29:23.7.
Junior
Dashon Gill finished 35th in 30:15.6, while junior
Jalen Jackson placed 41st with a time of 30:38.8.
On the women's side, Bethune-Cookman finished third with 103 points, led by a pair of top-four individual finishes.
Lisel Ndlovu paced the Wildcats with a third-place finish, completing the race in 19:38.2.
Valencia Butler followed closely behind in fourth at 19:47.1.
Sophomore
Shelvany Goin placed 18th with a time of 21:37.2, while Kimora Sims finished 43rd in 24:17.1.
London Dawkins rounded out the scoring five, finishing 46th at 24:51.1.
The Wildcats will quickly return to action this Friday as the team heads to Lakeland for the Ed Holloway Classic.
