• Bethune-Cookman has two returning players this season: Daniel Perez-Rouzan (11.8 ppg) and Quentin Heady (10.3 ppg). Perez-Rouzan was named to the Preseason All-SWAC First Team while Heady received Second Team honors.
• The Wildcats will welcome a recruiting class that includes two high school recruits, 10 Division I transfers, and one transfer from the junior college level.
• B-CU was chosen to finish first in the SWAC Preseason Poll, receiving 10 of the 16 possible first-place votes.
• A win would give the Wildcats their first win in a season-opener since 2019.

Furman is coming off another excellent season capped off with a conference tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA tournament. They fell in the opening round to UConn 82-71.

Like B-CU, the Paladins were picked to win the Southern Conference, also receiving 10 first-place votes. Forwards Marcus Kell and Charles Johnston were chosen to the preseason all-conference team.

The senior Johnston returns for 2026-27 after averaging 9.8 points and 9.0 rebounds a year ago. He also tied for the team lead in steals (27) and placed second in blocked shots (26).

Kell joins Furman following an excellent season with Western Carolina. The graduate forward averaged 13.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while starting all 31 games for the Catamounts last season.

The Wildcats have played Furman just three times in their program's history, with the Paladins emerging victorious in two of the three meetings.
