ITTA BENA, Miss. – Bethune-Cookman is back on the road this week as they travel to take on Mississippi Valley State at MVSU Softball Field. The three-game series begins with a double-header beginning Wednesday at 3 p.m. EST.

Florida A&M wasted no time jumping ahead in game two, stringing together five hits in the opening frame. An RBI sacrifice fly from Amari Brown plated the game's first run before Keeleigh Spooner delivered an RBI single. Later in the inning, Mikayla Register cleared the bases with a three-run double to push the Rattlers' lead to 5-0.
Bethune-Cookman answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. Zariah Billinger drove in a run on a groundout, and Arianna Reynolds followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 5-2.
The Wildcats trimmed the lead to two in the fourth inning when Jessica Alaan doubled to left center, scoring Kween Tauala to make it 5-3.
From there, Florida A&M's pitching settled in. After allowing two runs in the first, Zoryana Hughes earned the win, while Amari Brown tossed six innings and allowed just one run on three hits.
Spooner added insurance in the seventh inning with a solo home run to left field, extending the Rattlers' lead to 6-3.
Bethune-Cookman was held to five hits on the day. Reynolds and Alaan each recorded doubles and drove in a run, while Janel Morrisey added a hit and scored once.
The Wildcats threatened in the seventh, putting runners on second and third, but Brown induced a strikeout and a groundout to end the game.
The Delta Devils are 1-24 on this season and are currently on a 17-game losing skid. The team's only win is against Division II Bluefield State. They have also fallen twice to non-DI opponents.
MVSU ranks dead last in the league in batting average and ERA and sit second-to-last in fielding percentage. They have scored just 81 runs in 25 games, averaging around 3.2 runs per game.
Junior outfielder Michelle Diaz is the team's top contributor this season. She is batting .413 with a team-high 10 RBI.
The Wildcats will look to keep it rolling against the Delta Devils, having won the previous 13 meetings in a row. Overall, B-CU is 18-3 against MVSU.
