BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight week, freshman pitcher Mia Gonzalez has been named SWAC Newcomer of the Week, the Southwestern Athletic Conference announced Thursday afternoon.

For Gonzalez, this is her third weekly award, and it is the fourth for B-CU overall this season.

Mia Gonzalez held the Alabama State offense in check during her three appearances of the weekend. The freshman pitched 12.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs and recording two strikeouts. She earned the win in two of the three games.

The Wildcats close out the regular this weekend against Alabama A&M at Sunnyland Park. First pitch of the series is set for Friday at 5 p.m. EST.
