List Time Out Header

The Wildcats (17-26, 13-8) once again scored first, managing four runs in the first inning. After an error allowed the leadoff runner to reach, Janel Morrisey collected an RBI knock for the first run. Alana Cypress later drove in another run on a base hit and Arianna Reynolds picked up two RBI on a single to make it 4-0.

Alabama State scored its only run in the second inning. Bailee Williams led off the frame with a solo shot to cut the deficit down to three.

B-CU would retake a four-run lead in the fourth. Emma Bradley-Tse reached on a single and scored on an error to make it 5-1.

Cypress collected another RBI in the fifth inning, hitting a double to left field with a runner on first to put B-CU up five.

The Wildcats would go on to score two more runs in the late innings, including one on a hit by Mia"Lani to put the game out of reach. Mia Gonzalez and Sofia Coleman teamed up to shut down the Hornets offense again, holding ASU to just one run on six hits.

Scouting the Opponent In-Story Header

The Bulldogs are 6-15 in conference play, which places them fifth in the SWAC's east division. They have been swept five times this season, including last weekend on the road at Jackson State. All six of the team's wins have come against winless Mississippi Valley State.

AAMU is one of the top offensive teams in the league, ranking first in the SWAC in runs, third in batting average, second in doubles, and third in home runs. Kali Austerman has had an excellent season, topping the league in hits, doubles, triples, and home runs, and RBI.

The pitching has been a different story, as the Bulldogs hold the second-worst team ERA (8.13). They walk more batters than any other team by a wide margin and are allowing a .365 average to opposing hitters. Kaylee Tatum leads AAMU in innings at 78.1, but the team deploys five pitchers who have made multiple starts this season.

Alabama A&M holds the worst fielding percentage in the league at .933 and leads the conference with 96 errors.

History In-Story Header

Bethune-Cookman swept the Bulldogs earlier this season to extend its winning streak in the all-time series to 14 games. AAMU is 2-23 against the Wildcats.
