DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Bethune-Cookman University Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach Reggie Theus announced today the Wildcats' 2026-27 Men's Basketball recruiting class, welcoming an impressive group of 13 newcomers while bringing back key pieces from last season's historic squad.
The 2026-27 class features 11 transfers and two high school signees, representing a wide range of collegiate and prep experience. The Wildcats also return
Quentin Heady and Daniel Perez-Rouzan, providing continuity as Bethune-Cookman looks to build upon one of the most successful seasons in program history.
The 2025-26 Wildcats finished 17-15 overall and 14-4 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, capturing Bethune-Cookman's first SWAC regular-season championship since joining the conference and only the second regular-season championship in program history since moving to Division I. Theus was named SWAC Coach of the Year.
"Last season was an important step for our program, but we don't want to look at it as the finish line," said Theus. "Winning the SWAC regular-season championship showed our players, our university, our alumni and our fans what this program is capable of. Now, the challenge is to continue raising the standard - which would be the programs first NCAA tournament bid."
"With this recruiting class, we wanted to add talent, size, experience, versatility and toughness," Theus continued. "We have brought in players who have competed at different levels and in different systems, and we believe they give us the ability to play the kind of basketball we want to play. At the same time, retaining players who understand our culture was extremely important."
TRANSFER CLASS
Bethune-Cookman's transfer class features 11 newcomers:

- Mari Jordan, 6-foot-6 Wing, Radford
- Vuk Boskovic, 6-foot-7 Forward, San Diego
- Jaylen Jones, 6-foot Point Guard, Jacksonville
- Daniel Johnson, 6-foot-7 Wing, Hampton
- Karmello Branch, 6-foot-4 Guard, UMKC
- Melian Martinez, 7-foot Center, Louisiana Tech
- IJ Ezuma, 6-foot-8 Forward, Southern Mississippi
- Kallai Patton, 6-foot-4 Guard, New Mexico
- Kollen Murphy, 6-foot-3 Guard, Riverside City College
"This group gives us tremendous flexibility," said Theus. "We have guys with length and athleticism who can make plays with the ball, guys who can defend multiple positions, guys who can stretch the floor and guys who bring physicality. Most importantly, they are hungry. They understand that coming to Bethune-Cookman means becoming part of something bigger than yourself."
HIGH SCHOOL CLASS
The Wildcats also welcome two talented high school prospects from Next Level 360 Academy in Atlanta, Georgia:
- Connor Teasley, 6-foot-3 Guard
- Jared Smith, 6-foot-7 Forward
"We're excited about Connor and Jared because we believe in developing young players," Theus said. "They are coming into a program where they will have an opportunity to learn from experienced college players every day. We want our young players to understand what it takes to compete at this level and eventually become leaders within this program."
RETURNING WILDCATS

Perez-Rouzan, who has been a key contributor for the Wildcats for past two seasons, will return to the program after receiving a 5-in-5 injunction in the state of Louisiana. Perez-Rouzan was named All-SWAC in 2024-25 and 2025-26 while starting 65 out of 65 games during his tenure with the Wildcats. Heady returns to B-CU after averaging 10.3 points and 3.7 rebounds this past season.
"Quentin and Daniel are extremely important to what we're building," Theus said. "They understand our expectations, they understand what it means to wear a Bethune-Cookman uniform, and they have been through the battles with us. Having that experience back in our locker room is invaluable."
BUILDING ON A CHAMPIONSHIP FOUNDATION
The Wildcats enter the 2026-27 season with momentum following a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign.
Bethune-Cookman's championship season represented another major step in Theus' vision for the program.
"We've talked since day one about building something sustainable here at Bethune-Cookman," said Theus. "That means recruiting good players, developing them, graduating them, competing for championships and creating a culture that people want to be part of."
"Last year's championship was proof that we're moving in the right direction. Now we're adding another level of talent and experience. Our expectations are higher, and that's exactly where we want them."
With 13 newcomers and two returning players, Bethune-Cookman enters the 2026-27 campaign with a roster designed to combine experience with youth and continuity with new talent.
"We're not rebuilding," Theus said. "We're building. There's a difference."
Bethune-Cookman opens the 2026-27 campaign on Monday, November 2, at 8:00 p.m. ET against Furman University at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center in Rock Hill, S.C., as part of the Field of 68 24-Hour Opening Day Marathon. The nationally spotlighted event will feature eight college basketball games across 24 hours, with Bethune-Cookman and Furman serving as the marquee finale.
