Finished the season fifth on the Wildcats squad with a 76.00 average across the season… Finished the year with a four-over relative to par scorecard… Collected a pair of top 10 finishes, including once landing in the top five… Participated in 11 of 12 team events on the season, just the second player to do so on the roster… Claimed a low round of 69 across 30 total rounds shot on the campaign… Produced 2,280 strokes altogether… Began the year tied for 42nd out of 95 competitors in the Patriot Intercollegiate (75-77-74)… Produced his first top 10 finish of the year at the Black College Hall of Fame event (73-73), tying for eighth place out of 95 total participants… Tied for 36th in the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite (88-79)… Began the spring portion of the season at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor (75-72-75), turning in a second round even-par 72 in order to finish tied for 32nd out of 83 golfers… Took a tie for 14th in the Stetson Legacy Intercollegiate (79-73-70), firing a final round 2-under 70 to close out the tournament… Tied for 15th in the field of 49 at the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational (80-75-77) hosted by Bethune-Cookman at LPGA International… Fired a final round 2-over 74 to collect a tie for 20th place mark in the Lonnie Barton invitational ( 80-74) held at LPGA international… Turned in rounds of 1-over 73 and even-par 72, respectively, at the FAU Spring Championship (73-72-75), allowing him to finish tied for 46th in the field that included a total of 114 student-athletes… Tied for 15th at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships (78-76-76) while firing back-to-back rounds of 4-over 76 in order to close out the event in style… Took a second place finish and posted his season-low round of 69 in helping Bethune-Cookman win the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship (73-69-71), amassing his first under-par tournament on the year…
 
2016-17 (Freshman)
Earned a spot on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Tournament Team as a freshman… Led all Wildcats performers with a 73.50 stroke average across the season… Finished tied atop the BCU performers board with a +2 relative to par mark… Participated in 11 events and scored in 30 rounds – the most of any player on the squad… Used 2,205 strokes with a win-loss mark of 688-164. One of the best performances by a freshman since 2012-13 with former golfer Ryan Fricker… Grabbed four top 5 finishes in addition to five top 10 performances across the campaign… Started the fall season tied for 41st at the Hartford Hawk Invitational with a 149 card (76-73) and 5-over par for the event… Was tied for 43rd at the Patriot Intercollegiate amongst 112 competitors, firing a final 224 card (76-74-74)… Ended the Homewood Hilton Airport Invitational tied for 19th on the leaderboard with a 219 (75-71-73)… Collected his first top five finish with a second place showing at the SSU Tiger Fall Invitational and sitting 3-over par on a 219 (75-71-73)… Finished the fall season in the Invitational at Savannah Harbor where he finished with a 4-over card and a 220 line (75-74-71) and sat tied for 20th overall in the field… Started the spring portion of the schedule at the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational hosted by Bethune-Cookman at LPGA International… Turned in rounds of 72, 77 and 73 for a final 222 (+6), allowing him to tie for sixth place… Was tied for 13th at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular with a 224 scorecard (73-76-75) and 8-over par… Collected his second top five performance at the Towson Spring Invitational with a tie for fifth place showing as he fired a two-round 145 (69-76)… His opening round 3-under 69 represented his lowest scoring round of the year… Was even par on rounds of 74 and 70 (144) at the Wofford Invitational, allowing the freshman to finish tied for 19th in the final standings… Placed fifth and earned his lowest three-round total of the year with a 211 (72-69-70), matching his lowest round of the year in the second 189 holes, during the annual MEAC Championships in Savannah, Georgia… Finished up the MEAC Championships 5-under par… Was second overall at the 31st PGA National Minority Collegiate Championships with a 219 (72-73-74) scorecard across three rounds, allowing the BCU men’s team to capture the 2017 team title…

Attended Landskrona Golf Gymnasium… Played his high school golf under coaches Patrick Oderling and Andreas Waldh… Took top honors in the Skandia Tour Regional as a junior… Second place finish in the Arenakliniken Junior Open… Registered a pair of third place appearances in the Ljunghusen Open +18-Tour, as well as the J?nk?ping Junior Open By FJ…

Majoring in Mathematics at Bethune-Cookman… Parents are Bertil and Monica Hovstadius… Has three older siblings – Caroline (24), Karin (39) and Fredrik (41)… Birth date is March 17, 1997… Chose to attend Bethune-Cookman because of the good competitive team, great facilities and great climate for golf… First impression of Daytona Beach is that it was a good place for him to develop his golf game… Favorite sports memory is when his club team and himself qualified for the last stage of the Swedish Championship and defeated several great teams along the way… Favorite sports team is the New York Rangers… Favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption… Favorite musical artist is Kygo… Advice to youngsters is “have a clear goal and keep working for it, no matter what”…
