Stacey Beckton is in his 13th year with the Bethune-Cookman University basketball program.
A Daytona Beach native, Beckton had more than 10 years of experience working as a camp commissioner with the NBA Summer Orlando Magic Basketball Camp.
In 2007-2008, Beckton was head coach at Mainland High School for one season, leading his team to an 11-16 record and the Buccaneers' first appearance in the playoffs in six seasons. He returned to B-CU the following year.
He started his coaching career in 1992-93, serving as an assistant varsity coach and head freshman boys basketball coach at Seabreeze High School. He served one year (1993-94) at Deltona High School. He helped start the program at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, serving as as a varsity assistant coach and head junior varsity coach.
Beckton was an assistant coach on Mainland's FHSAA 5A State Championship team in 1998 and also the junior varsity head coach at Mainland, where he also was a Campus Advisor for 13 years.
He has worked for the NBA's community relations department with the league All-Star weekends in Las Vegas and New Orleans.
He is a graduate of Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. After graduation he attended St. John's Community College and played two seasons at SJCC.
Beckton and his wife Carolyn, have two children, Stacha (22) and Stacy Jr. (16) and they reside in Daytona Beach.
