HIGH SCHOOL (Admiral Farragut Academy): Played high school softball under head coach Linda Derk… Played third base as a junior and senior… Named a team captain as a senior… Coach’s Award… Selected as a Tampa Bay Times All-County Honorable Mention performer… Helped her team to a district title, regional championship and state final four in 2016… Went a perfect 4-for-4 in a game as a senior, scoring twice with five RBIs and a double… Named team captain as a junior… Also tabbed Tampa Bay Times All-County Honorable Mention… Batted .750 as a junior in a game against CCC, scoring two runs with three hits, two RBIs and a home run… Registered 65 kills, 15 solo blocks, 48 service aces and was a team captain for her volleyball squad… Also a team captain in basketball, while serving as a cheerleader… Member of the National Honor Society and served as vice president…
 
PERSONAL: Full name is Maiya Alexandria Fudge… Born in Gainesville, Florida… Daughter of Destry Fudge Sr. and Dr. Marilyn Fudge… Enjoys traveling, playing volleyball going to the beach and spending time with family away from the softball field… Chose to attend Bethune-Cookman because it gave her a chance to continue playing softball while continuing her education… Favorite sports memory occurred on her birthday, as she helped her team come from 1-0 down and win with two outs while her younger sister scored the winning run, advancing the team to states… Lists Serena Williams as her favorite athlete because she is an inspiration to so many African-American girls… Favorite actresses include Gabrielle Union and Taraji P. Henson… Favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird… Prized possession is her snow globe collection and her birthday cards from her great-grandmother… Likes to read People magazine…
